Who am I?

My name is Kelvin. I am a personal trainer and a strength coach based in Tasmania, Australia. I am originally from Hong Kong, moved to Australia since 2015 to study Architecture and used to be an architecture draftsperson for a year. After that in 2021, I finally (Finally!!!) decided to step out of my comfort zone, quitted my Archi- job and go all-in to being a coach, which is the path that I have always long for, and here I am!

Other than fitness, in leisure time I run a casual Youtube channel showing the boring life of a Hong Kong-nese in Australia, if you are interested, the channel name is: Zhonggor Kelvin. I also enjoy reading, road cycling, and the most important thing - Explore the best instant ramen brands and recipes in the world.

My fitness journey

I had always been the most underweighted, shortest kid back then. So around 2012, I decided to start working out to build muscles, gain strength by copying legendary bodybuilders (Dorian Yates, Kai Greene etc.) workout on Youtube for few years.

Later on I started reading more books on exercise programming, strength training, nutrition, where I developed a more systematic approach to fitness, that's the point where I started seeing results on muscle building and strength drastically, while maintaining around 10-15% bodyfat throughout my training years. However, the only result I didnt see is my height. Definitely not an expert to that.

Be 1% Better

Be 1% Better. An idea I learnt from the book Atomic Habits by James Clear. It says if you improve 1% everyday consistently, in a year you will become 37 times better on that particular aspect. Soon after I read it, it became my philosophy of life.

While I don't believe its humanly possible to be 1% better consistently everyday, and it also doesn't make sense to me that if you can improve 37% better today why you limit yourself to do only 1%? That is why I utilise it in flexible ways to motivate myself to keep going even though there are times I don't feel like doing it, and also focus on small wins instead of big wins.

Back then when I suffered from anxiety, high blood presssure, financial scarcity, uni study pressure, the 1%better philosophy was and is the light that helped me got through all that, my life has been changed ever since. And now I want to help others change as well!
